51 GreenVault (Grünes Gewölbe) The Green Vault is world renown as one of the richest treasure chambers in Europe. Since the new Green Vault and the historical Green Vault were opened in 2004 and 2006 respectively, more than 4 million visitors have admired the treasures held there. They were fascinated by the radiance and opulent magnificence of these exceptional works of art. About 3000 works are exhibited in the green vault. • www.skd.museum Dresden Sights & Culture Albertinum The Albertinum was built between 1884 and 1887. The sandstone-clad Renaissance Revival building is located on Brühl's Terrace in the historic center of Dresden. It is named after King Albert of Saxony. The Albertinum hosts the Galerie Neue Meister (New Masters Gallery) and the Skulpturensammlung (Sculpture Collection). The Galerie Neue Meister has an outstand- ing collection of art from romanticism to the present day. Walking around, visitors can discover works by Caspar David Friedrich, Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Otto Dix, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Georg Baselitz, Gerhard Richter, Neo Rauch and other important artists. • www.skd.museum 5 6
