ECP 2021 Preliminary Programme

3 ECP 2021 · Virtual Congress Dear Colleague, Over the last few months, the European Society of Pathology (ESP) has been assessing the evolution of travelling restrictions, global health reports and con- finements associated with the current pandemic. The uncertain projections for the next months have led ESP to the decision to move the 33 rd European Con- gress of Pathology (ECP) to a virtual setting. It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 33 rd ECP which will take place as an online congress from 29–31 August 2021. The motto for the ECP 2021, ”Compass for Optimal Patient Therapy” alludes to Gothenburg's strong maritime tradition being the largest port in Sweden. We would have loved to organise a live meeting in Gothenburg, but in order to pro- tect the health and safety of everybody involved in the congress, had to decide for a virtual congress. The ECP 2021 will be the centre for European internati- onal diagnostic and academic pathology. Pathologists and their collaborators, molecular biologists, geneticists, bioinformaticians, and information technolo- gists will meet to share recent and important advances in our discipline that offer the latest diagnostic, prognostic and predictive information needed in the best patient care. For ECP 2021, the ESP working groups are busy preparing state-of-the-art organ-based sessions while collaborating pathology and clinical scientific societies will interact in joint scientific events. Exciting topics in the field of molecular pathology, digital pathology, AI in pathology, quality assess- ment, education and public awareness will be part of the scientific programme. Four keynote lectures by distinguished international experts will highlight fas- cinating topics in pathology and beyond. Thematic symposia on interstitial lung pathology and molecular findings in salivary gland tumours of diagnostic and predictive importance will take place.
