General Information
HOWTO GET FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE
VANCOUVER CONVENTION CENTRE
Vancouver International Airport is located approximately
20 minutes / 12 km from downtownVancouver and served
by a wide variety of local, national and international air-
lines with direct routes to most major destinations. The
airport is connected by the Canada rapid transit link to
Vancouver city centre and waterfront station. Trains run
approx. every 5 – 10 minutes, the travel time is 30 min-
utes. Licensed taxis are available at the airport. The taxi
fare is approx. CAD 35 – 40 per way plus gratuity.
LETTER OF INVITATION
The congress office will be pleased to send a formal letter
of invitation to any individual requesting one. It is under-
stood that such an invitation is intended to help potential
delegates to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not
imply a commitment from the WFSBP to provide any fi-
nancial support. Invitation letters can be requested in the
online registration process until 30 April 2019. The letters
will be sent as email attachment. If an express delivery is
required, the delegate shall order a courier at his / her own
expense.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
The Vancouver Convention Center is located in the city
center of Vancouver. It can be reached by public transpor-
tation: TransLink provides city transit for tourists and resi-
dents seven days a week via buses through its transit sys-
tem, Skytrain. Major hotels are within walking distance to
the congress venue.
TAXIS
Vancouver taxi cabs are allowed to operate within the
Vancouver area, including Vancouver International Air-
port. Taxis can be called, hailed on the street or found at
one of more than 50 official taxi ranks located around the
city.
VANCOUVER CONVENTION CENTRE
Built on the original Pier B-C on Vancouver‘s Waterfront,
the Vancouver Convention Centre first served as the Can-
ada Pavilion for the World‘s Fair Expo in 1986. Since then,
it has grown to become recognised as one of the leading
convention centres in the world. It is situated in the down-
town area of Vancouver, directly at the harbour.
VISA
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)
Visa-exempt foreign nationals who fly to Canada will
need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Exceptions
include U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa.
